PENNSYLVANIA SEES NEW RECORD FOR LARGEST LOTTERY PRIZE WON IN STATE WITH $516M MEGA MILLIONS BY PENNBETS' BRIAN PEMPUS

The multi-state lottery jackpots are soaring to pre-pandemic levels again, and one of those massive pots was just won in Pennsylvania, though not necessarily by a state resident.

The Pennsylvania Lottery announced Monday that a 7-Eleven in Bucks County sold a winning Mega Millions jackpot ticket worth $516 million in the Friday, May 21 drawing. The ticket matched all five white balls drawn, 6-9-17-18-48, and the yellow Mega Ball 8.

It was the ninth-largest Mega Millions drawings ever. The cash option is $349.3 million, before taxes.

It’s the largest in state history. The winner isn’t yet known and has not stepped forward.

The jackpot started in February. More than 81,600 other PA Lottery Mega Millions tickets won prizes of various amounts in the drawing, according to the Lottery.
