“Survive and Advance” is a phrase that has been applied to both tournament poker and March Madness (NCAA Basketball Tournament). And it fits both events. In tournament poker, your mission is to survive – first the level you’re on, then to bag chips at the end of each day, then to get to the money, then make it to the final table, then last until you play heads-up for the title, and finally, ‘survive’ until you get the “W”. In March Madness, it’s all about survival and moving on to the next game – doesn’t matter if you win a game by 30 points or make a shot from half court to win the game – just survive and move on to the next game.
