Visit Atlantic City’s new CEO looks to overhaul marketing to attract visitors for longer stays

Atlantic City's tourism marketing strategy will focus less on its casinos in the coming years and more on other attractions.

That's one of the primary goals for Visit Atlantic City's new CEO Gary Musich, who is looking to respond to a recent evolution at the Shore town, which has struggled over the years through a recession, a pandemic and negative public perception.

Although historically most of the revenue generated in Atlantic City has come from gaming, the share of non-gaming revenue has grown in recent years, a shift that Musich believes should change how the city is marketed.

“I don't believe our messaging should be just about casinos," Musich said. "There's a lot more to this region.”

As he steps into his new role at a pivotal time for Visit Atlantic City, Musich aims to bolster tourism and extend visitor stays through new marketing campaigns, sponsorship opportunities and creating new "destination-based events" along with reinventing existing ones, like the annual airshow.

Musich is making these goals shortly after stepping into the role of president and CEO of Visit Atlantic City, which he began on Dec. 10. He succeeded Larry Sieg, who retired at the end of the year after more than four years at the helm of the organization, which works to attract meetings and events to the region.
