I was born and raised in New Jersey. I was seven years old when the casinos began to cast their shadows on the beaches and boardwalks of Atlantic City. And for people of my generation we can say we grew up as gaming in New Jersey grew. Back in the 70s and 80s, I would have never imagined that the fun and excitement of Atlantic City could be experienced in your own home. But Borgata, the biggest, and in my opinion, the best casino, is providing that. For days, I have been preparing to play in one of Borgata's online satellites for a chance to win $10,000 to an amazing Las Vegas poker tournament. I still find it amazing that these prizes can be won from your laptop, phone or tablet, and all from the comfort of your own home.
In the early 80s, a family member of mine was an executive at one of the casinos on the boardwalk. He would always say “I have the greatest job in the world because I work in the greatest place on earth.” Over the last couple of years, I have discovered what he was talking about. I'm a lawyer working in the gambling industry. I'm also part of a nationally syndicated radio show, House of Cards® (cheap plug) and, on top of that, I get to do a news report about the gaming industry on the radio (House of Cards® Gaming Report - another cheap plug). In fact, in one recent taping of the radio show, a comment was made about the Borgata sweatshirt I was wearing. In the fine tradition of my family, I said "Hey, greatest place on earth." Sort of a tribute to my long gone family member.
From my work in the gaming industry, Borgata is one of those places which makes the gaming industry special. And Borgata Online is bringing that uniqueness and fun to every part of New Jersey. Until July 7th, they’ll be running online tournaments between Sunday and Thursday for chances to win cash that can be used for tournaments in Las Vegas. These online tournaments start at only $12.50!!
I'll be playing in one of these online tournaments today, Wednesday, June 22, at 5:30 PM. My screen name is DEW44. Stop by, say hi and let's play some hands together.
I would however be remiss if I didn't point out an improvement that can be made to the online gaming world. After all the fun I have playing in the brick and mortar Borgata, I usually like to unwind at the amazing Gypsy Bar or the equally as great Long Bar just off the gaming floor. Apparently technology has not yet advanced to the point where you can enjoy these two great Borgata watering holes in the cyber universe. But I'm sure if there is a way, the great people at Borgata Online are working on this issue right now. In the meantime, if you're in New Jersey and over 21, go to borgataonline.com or borgatapoker.com, sign up and create your account with this link, start playing, and, most importantly, start winning. Borgata Online is bringing the same games and same excitement as their physical casino in Atlantic City to every corner of the Garden State.
