Former Memphis Grizzlies Player Charged With Felony Over Alleged Poker Home Games from TNBets' Brian Pempus

A former member of the Memphis Grizzlies and Memphis Tigers basketball teams is accused of running poker games inside his home.

According to Action News 5, Antonio Burks, who played professional basketball from 2004 to 2009, was arrested and charged with various gambling-related offenses connected to poker. There is no reported sports betting connection.

Authorities reportedly searched a home belonging to Burks in the Hickory Hill community of Memphis that allegedly had a pair of poker tables, poker chips, and poker cards. The report stated that the property had a sign that read “Burks Poker Palace Rules.” The stakes of the alleged poker games were not provided in various reports.

FOX 13 Memphis reported that three people were detained inside the residence, which was said to have a surveillance system. One of the individuals detained allegedly told police that he played poker there twice a week.

LocalMemphis.com reported Tuesday that Burks, a former second-round NBA draft pick, was out of jail on $1,000 bond and slated to appear in court Aug. 24.
