Hard seltzer brands in the US overtook traditional beer big hitters such as Bud Light and Coors Light as the top sellers on drinks delivery platform Drizly during last week's Independence Day celebrations.
Drizly said today the hard seltzer category leapfrogged light lagers on 4 July for the first time. According to the company's data, hard seltzer sales accounted for 25% of total beer sales, ahead of light lagers.
On 4 July last year, hard seltzer sales were 17% of the total beer category, with light lagers in first place.
