Pennsylvania casinos have reopened, and despite coronavirus restrictions and continued public caution, the state’s brick and mortar facilities generated over $200 million in July, according to the latest revenue report from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

Interestingly, online gambling revenue was unaffected. Pennsylvania online casinos tallied $54.4 million during July, just shy of the record-setting haul from May. And as the chart below shows, that tally has been relatively unchanged for three months.

That point bears repeating: Land-based casino revenue has gone from $0 in May to over $200 million in July, and online gambling revenue has remained unchanged.

The durability of online gambling is one of the most surprising elements of the Pennsylvania and New Jersey online gambling markets following the reopening of land-based casinos.
